A Romantic Wedding at Hale Park

Hale Park is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues in the UK!

As a UK wedding photographer, I experience a lot of different types of venues but there is always a fair share that will stick in my mind, that I always want to go back to.

Nicky and Rich’s romantic Hale Park wedding in Hampshire has to be one of my favourites to date. I’m not sure I should technically admit I have a favourite wedding in 2022 but I’ve said it now and I’m not taking it back!

Other than the fact Nicky and Rich treated me as if I was an old friend on the day, everything about their wedding at this venue was just utterly gorgeous. The venue itself has so much to offer couples, from the gorgeous grounds and opulent features to the high-quality service provided by the staff.

The Vibe as You Arrive

A Hale Park wedding is uniquely stunning and as soon as you arrive & drive along the gravel driveway, the sight of the pink house at the end takes your breath away.

This venue is located at the top of a hill in a quiet, hidden corner of the New Forest, and was built in 1715 by Thomas Archer, a well-respected and successful Georgian architect.

I love an old Manor House and as I got closer, I felt as though I was arriving at a venue in the south of France. Hale Park really does have destination wedding vibes, which is right up my street.

Wedding Prep

Nicky began the day getting ready in the venue’s bridal suite, which comes complete with a little kitchen, lounge area and separate bedrooms.

Downstairs and outside of this building are the quirky toilet blocks, which are converted stables that also double up as the space where grooms can get ready. This sounds weird as it’s the toilet but these toilets are not what you think. See my iPhone pics below.

Trust me, it is still a romantic Hale Park wedding even if your husband-to-be is getting ready in the ‘toilets’!

The Ceremony

You can get married in St. Mary’s, a Church of England church located within Hale Park’s gardens and it’s only a five-minute walk from the house. This is what Nicky and Rich did and once Nicky and her bridesmaids were ready, it was time to walk to the church.

You can also get married or have your licensed civil ceremony in Hale Park’s stately drawing rooms, which lead to magnificent gardens with stunning views of the River Avon and the Avon Valley.

Alternatively, you can have your own Independent Celebrant read your own vows anywhere in the gardens for your romantic Hale Park wedding.

After the ceremony the day just flowed so beautifully and I really didn’t feel like I was working at all.

Food Time!

At lunchtime, I chose to make my own food in my camper van, even though I was offered food by the venue. I heated up leftover Spag Bol, poured a little glass of wine, and just made the most of some quiet time before the party began.

I felt at this moment as though I was living a wedding photographer’s dream! This Hale Park wedding felt just as romantic for me as it did for Nicky & Rich.

The Evening

Being Nicky and Rich’s wedding photographer meant I was able to take my converted camper van and stay the night in the camping field with the other guests.

Once I had finished capturing their day, I grabbed a glass of red wine and wandered around for a bit, chatting with Nicky and taking in the rest of the evening. This included delicious little boxes of Chinese food that I ate whilst sitting outside on the stunning grounds with the sound of the band playing inside.

The fact that this venue allows you to camp on their fields makes a romantic event even more magical – I can’t get over how special this Hale Park wedding was.

It really was the perfect end to a beautiful day.

The venue, outdoor space and church have unique features throughout that complemented every photo I had taken that day from the portraits to the natural moments.
