Wild Meadow Family Photography
One thing I’ve realised recently is that I am terrible at blogging sessions. I just can’t seem to prioritise sitting down and putting together a blog post so almost all of my sessions have never seen the light of day over here on my website. Hence why I’m sharing this wild meadow family photography session now. Almost 2 years later. Yes, I have a back log of family sessions I need to get up on the blog to share with you so I’m going back in time a bit.
LONG GOLDEN GRASSES AND EPIC SUNSETS
If you don’t know, (and why would you?) I live in a lovely village in Swindon where we have, what I like to call, wild meadows right on our doorstep. In 2020 these meadows bloomed in a way I’m yet to see again since (boo) and so I shot the majority of my family sessions there, where the evenings were long & the sunsets epic. I still go there at this time of the year to walk our dog but it’s currently looking a little dead and muddy.
This little family happen to be very old friends with my ex and once upon a time, we all hung out in the same circle. So it was lovely that they contacted me to capture their family portraits, and even more lovely that they also live in the same village. Using the wild meadows as the location for their session was a must, so off we walked to chase the sunset.
My sessions are very much focused on families just enjoying each others company. I ask nothing more than for parents to interact with their children as if they were exploring on a walk as a family. If children are particularly uncomfortable or shy, I’ll gently step in and use techniques I’d try with my own little boy, who happens to be very shy indeed. I’m also here for capturing kids as they want to be captured. Although we all love images of our children smiling, nothing fills me with joy more than seeing my own child looking at me with a face of curiosity and wonder. More often than not, this doesn’t come with a smile.
To me this session is perfect and it’s so nice for me to be able to look back on the images and feel proud I was able to capture such special memories for them.
